Not only that, 9.2% of the world lives in poverty, or roughly 689 million people.

It Is Possible To Reduce Deforestation By Using Hemp

Did you know that most governments used hemp paper up until the 1930s?

But then hemp was classified as a drug in the '50s (even though it has no-psychoactive properties).

So manufacturers had to find another way to produce our paper.

Enter deforestation.

The world's forests are being obliterated. Every year, almost six million hectares of forest are lost to deforestation. In other words, every two years we lose an area the size of Portugal.

Hemp produces higher-quality paper while using fewer chemicals for processing than wood pulp.

Hemp paper can also be bleached with hydrogen peroxide. Which is more efficient and environmentally friendly than using bleach for paper made from trees.

Can someone remind us why we are not using the better alternative?

Hemp Can Replace Plastic

Our planet has produced 8.3 billion metric tons of plastic since the invention of plastic in the 1950s. That's the equivalent of 25,000 Empire State buildings.

Plastic not only pollutes marine environments and landfills, but its production also poisons people across the globe, especially in developing nations.

And on top of that plastic takes 500 years to decompose.

But if we use hemp we can reduce the abuse on our planet. How?

Hemp, which can be made into a versatile biodegradable plastic, doesn't use harmful chemicals for production and decomposes in 3-6 months.

Hemp bioplastic could allow families, communities, and ecosystems to remain stable.

Farming With Hemp

Hemp requires little to no fertilizer or pesticides. Because of this the soil retains more nutrients and is more productive over time.

By stabilizing the soil near surrounding communities and preventing soil loss and erosion, hemp protects farmers from the risk of flooding and crop loss.

Hemp can help communities in developing countries become more resilient despite climate change's uncertain future.

Hemp Could Help End World Hunger

Hemp seeds are nutritional powerhouses.

They contain important minerals like potassium, magnesium and calcium.

As well as being a complete protein source with essential fatty acids that generate health benefits like cancer resistance (because of their omega-3s), inflammation reduction and blood clotting abilities.

Hemp seeds and oil are an excellent way to combat malnutrition.

One-third of the world's population lacks enough food to live, which can lead to not only physical problems but also mental issues. This is especially true for children who have been labeled as being "malnourished."
